Hi, my name is Elaine, owner of the biggest UK independent Teddy Bear Shop. As an Independent store you get the variety and the best personal service, all driven from my passion of teddy bears.The Cheddar shop (The Gorgeous Bear Company) was opened in the summer of 1999, fn the summer of 2004 I launched a new themed teddy bear store (World of Bears) in Taunton, all of our stores aim to offer the biggest selection of bears and soft-toys in the South West. Both stores have areas dedicated to each major manufacturer, this combined with excellant knowledge makes us one of the leading specialist teddy bear stores in the UK.Most of our on-line brochure is in stock, YES we do stock that many bears, if it is not in stock due to its popularity it will be on order, and due in soon. We also have many items from previous years collections that are not on our site. Our smallest shop in Cheddar is 1000 sq ft (just 8 miles from the M5), bursting with lovely cuddly teddy bears and animals. I offer a tedtastic range of over 18,000 cuddles in stock, over 7,500 different products, over 4250 of these are available on-line. Hence we provide you the best possible choice under one roof at the best possible price. Now all these teddy bears and friends are personally selected by me and cuddled of course! Hence yes we do have most of our on-line brochure in stock. In the unlikely event it has sold out, you can be rest assured its already on order. We have partnered with, are key accounts of, and work closely with many suppliers to ensure we get priority delivery, i.e. Steiff, Merrythought, Boyds, Robin Rive, Hansa,Hermann, Charlie Bears and Gund to name but a few. Don't forget to ask about our PawPrints where as you spend you get awarded loyalty paw prints, which twice a year get converted into vouchers for you spend. Cheddar is famed for its gorge (upto 120 metres high in places), and cathedral like caves all formed around million year-old Ice Age river beds. Cheddar, according to local legend is also the birth place of Cheddar Cheese, records show that cheese has been made in Cheddar for over 800 years. The Gorge Bear Co is our smallest shop some 1000 sq. ft, (but dont be fooled!, it is crammed full of over 4000 teddies, huge range of Steiff, full range of boyds, russ, gund, hermann teddy original..... and loads more ..Open Seven days a week most of the year, Hours are Summer - 11 -5:00 (4.00 on sundays) Winter 11-4:00. We are closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day (Phone for xmas opening times), and Mondays during January and February.Directions: Travelling from the North, M5 or London M4, take Cheddar exit No.22 on M5. Follow Cheddar Gorge and Caves brown signs for 8 miles. Travelling from the South, take Cheddar exit No.22 on M5. Follow Cheddar Gorge and caves brown signs for 8 miles.Travelling from Bristol, A38 for 8 miles through Churchill traffic lights. Turn left at garage for Shipham, 3 miles to Cheddar. World of Bears store opened in Summer of 2004, by the owners of The Gorge Bear Co. This store is a little bit different to the usual small teddy bear shops, and will be the first of its kind in the country, and is what must be the UK’s largest specialist soft toy storeOpen Mon-Sat 10:00 - 5.00, The bears are at rest on Sundays and on Bank Holidays when we are closed. Please phone for extended opening times around christmas.Directions: Just five minutes from the motorway M5, J25, Follow Signs to Town Centre/Theatre, From motorway go over first roundabout, through next set of lights by castle, over next roundabout, bear left by mini-roundabout by Shell garage, following signs to theatre car park. We are approx. 2 minutes away from this car park.Stairs connect the split levels, please contact us in advance to arrange an appoitment if you require a "personal shopper".
